  Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has set the ball rolling with a moral boosting visit to the Alake Sports Center, Ijeja, the venue of the BetKing 3x3 National Wheelchair Basketball Championship, which runs from April 3rd to the 7th 2025. During the visit, the Governor commended the Wheelchair basketball players for their dedication and resilience, encouraging them to continue excelling in the sport they love so much. " I want to commend all the players participating in this tournament and I want all of you to know you are already a winner. Nigerian Team Chief Naval Spikers Shines on Day 2 of Women's African Volley Club Championship

By Dayo Awoniyi The 2025 Women's African Volleyball Club Championship heated up on Day 2, with Nigeria's CNS (Chief Naval Spikers) securing a thrilling 3-0 victory over Botswana's SSV. The Nigerian team dominated the match, winning 25-22, 25-21, and 25-08. In another Pool C match, Egypt's Ahlaly delivered a crushing 3-0 defeat to Senegal's SOC, with scores of 25-10, 25-14, and 25-06. Defending champions Zamalek of Egypt also made a strong statement, defeating Kenya Prisons 3-0 in Pool B. The Egyptian team won comfortably, with scores of 25-23, 25-17, and 25-23. Despite a low turnout of supporters, the CNS team made Nigeria proud with their impressive performance.

Govt Should Give Annual Grants To Nigerian Clubsides ~ Sanmi Doherty

  By Akeem Busari Stakeholders of Nigerian football opined that governments at all levels should completely hands off sponsorship or ownership of football clubs in Nigeria. According to some aficionados, the state-owned clubs have not thrived or perform better than privately owned clubs in recent times. And yet, another strong voice in the fortunes of Nigerian football has joined the fray, albeit from a fresher angle. Speaking in a recent interview, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ikorodu City Football club, Sanmi Doherty, admonished the federal government to establish a football trust fund that would empower the clubs to operate in line with the global best practices in world football. E The Federal Capital Territory Football Association (FCT FA) has disbursed a total of N720,000 to Area Councils in preparation for the inaugural FCT FA Inter-Area Councils Women's Tournament, which is set to kick off on April 10, 2025. The funding was announced at a media briefing held at Area 10 in Abuja on Thursday, with each of the six participating Area Council teams receiving N120,000 to support their preparations for the competition. The six Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)—Abaji, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Kwali—were all represented at the event. In his address, FCT FA Chairman Alhaji Adam Mouktar Mohammed revealed that the tournament aligns with his administration’s vision to foster the development of women’s football and provide opportunities for young female players in the capital.
