FCT SWAN Patron Backs New Leadership with Strategic Support

In a move aimed at strengthening unity and enhancing its fortunes, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has expressed the resolve of its new leadership to utilize the extensive networks and services of their esteemed patron, Barrister Paul Edeh.

During a courtesy visit by the new executive of the association to Barrister Edeh’s office in Abuja on Friday, FCT SWAN Chairman Kelechi Onwudiwe acknowledged the pivotal role of the legal luminary in supporting the association during challenging times.

“As the new leadership, we recognize the invaluable services you’ve provided to FCT amidst challenges. We are eager to leverage your extensive networks through a supportive relationship, focusing on key areas,” Onwudiwe emphasized.

Highlighting the priorities, Onwudiwe stressed the importance of Barrister Edeh’s guidance in fostering association unity, establishing a cooperative scheme, procuring health insurance, constructing the SWAN secretariat, and driving sponsorship collaborations.

In response, Barrister Edeh welcomed the new executive members and affirmed his commitment to FCT SWAN’s reunification and sustainability.

“I consider everyone in the new FCT SWAN leadership as a friend with whom I have built strong relationships. I am pleased to support the reunification efforts and ensure sustainable funding for FCT SWAN,” Barrister Edeh remarked.

He outlined his plans to facilitate discussions on establishing an estate, constructing the SWAN secretariat, and securing sponsors and partners crucial for the association’s growth.

Commending the initiative to launch a cooperative, Barrister Edeh offered guidance for its successful implementation and endorsed plans to expand the annual SWAN Week event.

“I fully endorse the cooperative initiative and will provide necessary guidance. We should aim to make SWAN Week a prominent event,” Edeh affirmed.

Encouraging collaboration and partnership exploration, Barrister Edeh welcomed proposals for a Media Collaboration Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) through his outfit, Digital Mirroring Concept.

The FCT SWAN excos also congratulated Barrister Edeh on his first anniversary in office as Benue State FA chairman and the historical progression of FCT-based NWFL side Naija Ratels, owned by Edeh, to the semifinal of the President Federation Cup for the first time in the club’s history.

The FCT SWAN delegation included Chairman Kelechi Onwudiwe, Secretary Samuel Ahmadu, Financial Secretary Niyi Busari, Treasurer JaneFrances Nweze, and Assistant Secretary Friday Joshua.
