Players exodus hit Kwara United FC as 22 were layoff, recruits top Stars ahead of 2024/24 NPFL season.

 







No less than 22 players of Kwara United Football Club have been laid off ahead of the incoming season, according to the management of the club.


This was revealed by the General Manager of Kwara United FC, Bashir Badawiy, during the first official training session  of the team  on Monday ahead of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).


Badawiy  said that  additional 23 top stars from the NPFL have been recruited to strengthen the club ahead next season.


He noted that top quality players have agreed to join the team.


“Players like Abayomi Samuel (Shooting Stars), Jimi Iteji (Plateau United), former U17, U20 and U23 goal stoppers, Kazeem Badmus and Adamu Abubakar as well as Ifeanyi Ogba (Rangers International) are on their way to join Kwara United FC.


“We have let go 22 players from last season to join clubs within and outside the country as their services will not be required. The club is wishing them all the best but we are focused on the task ahead”, he added.


Badawiy further called on the players to eschew indiscipline and work inline with the philosophy of the club and target ending next season among the top three.


"Our expectation in the 2024/25 NPFL season is to finish among the top three, we don't want to struggle again; check our records in the last two seasons, we were  among the top four and even qualified for continental," he said.

 


Kwara United will be participating in the next Valuejet Preseason tournament holding in Ikenne, Ogun State, from 24th of this month 

 

Meanwhile, the club continues its training tomorrow at the Kwara United training pitch in the morning.
