Tafida endorses Austin Eguavoen's stay, says no need for a foreign technical adviser for now

Football enthusiast and the convener of the "Let's do it again" campaign, Mr Garba Murtalar Tafida has endorsed coach Austin Eguavoen as the man to thinker the Super Eagles of Nigeria to a glorious height.


He stated this at the Kigali international airport, Rwanda, shortly after the Eagles were held to a goalless draw by the Amavubi of Rwanda in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers at the Amahoro stadium on Tuesday evening.


While speaking, the vibrant and cheery looking Tafida said Austin Eguavoen has made some measurable progress with the team and deserves to be given time and the support needed to be able to implement his beautiful and captivating football philosophy.


He noted that his selection process and his tactical substitutions in the two matches so far were spot on, pledging his support and giving his seal of approval for him to continue, also stressing that the talks of a foreign manager for the Eagles should be suspended for now.


"The coach is making progress honestly, there's nothing bad in his selection and his substitution, personally for me, am really okay with him and am okay with his selection"


"The previous match we played in Uyo he made some tactical substitutions which helped balanced the game, in summary we don't need a foreign coach for now"


Mr Tafida also praised the effort of the Super Eagles players for their tenacity and for drilling the Rwandan's, by keeping them on the edge of their seats for 90min at the Amahoro stadium.


"We expected more than we got because our players did very well, most especially the second half, after the break, they came out with a lot of energy and they played really well"


"I wasn't disappointed with the result because our opponent were happy with the draw, and it looked to them like they have won a trophy" he stated.
