FCT FA Ethics Committee Verdicts: Like-Minds FC Coaches Suspended, Expelled Over Election Misconduct.
The FCT FA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee has taken drastic measures against two coaches from Like-minds FC, recommending expulsion for Coach Luke Olaiya and an indefinite suspension for Meshach Olatunji. This decision follows an investigation into incidents that occurred before and after the November 30 by-election for the 1st vice-chairman position.
Luke Olaiya's expulsion stems from being allegedly caught with a knife at the election venue, after previously reported threats to the life of FA Secretary Haruna Ilerika, alongside his principal Babatunde Bucknor. Meshach Olatunji received an indefinite suspension for similar offenses.
Both coaches are affiliated with Babatunde Bucknor, a board member who has also been recommended for indefinite suspension due to his conduct before and after the election, which he lost to Alhaji Salihu Kolo.
According to a letter signed by the secretary of the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee, Barrister Jimmy Kadiri, the sanctioned individuals failed to appear before the investigative panel to defend themselves or provide tangible reasons.
Like-minds FC, the team with which the coaches are affiliated, has been prominent in the Federal Capital Territory, winning amateur league trophies and representing the state in the Nationwide League One.
Meanwhile, the affected persons have the right to appeal the sanctions, which will be ratified by the FCT FA Board.
