Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa student kills colleague with axe and knife.

A part-time ND2 Computer Science student of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa (FPN), Ibrahim Matthew, lost his life in a violent altercation with a fellow student, John Gambo, a male ND2 student in the Banking and Finance Department of the same institution. The incident occurred on February 6, 2025, at about 0200hrs, at a lodge behind ECWA Peace College, Shagari Road, Nasarawa.




According to the report lodged by Mercy Bassey, a female resident, the altercation between the two individuals turned fatal, with Ibrahim Matthew suffering fatal injuries. He was rushed to General Hospital, Nasarawa, where he was confirmed dead.




The commissioner of police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, promptly sent a team of detectives to the scene, who found Ibrahim Matthew lying in a pool of his own blood. Following a swift investigation, the suspect, John Gambo, was apprehended and confessed to violently attacking/hacking the deceased with both an axe and a knife.




The axe and knife were recovered from the suspect, and the Commissioner of Police has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for comprehensive investigation and subsequent prosecution.
