12 Days Away: Ebi Egbe Canvasses for Free and Fair CAF Elections for FIFA Council Members
Ebi Egbe, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Monimichelle Sports Facilities Construction Limited, is advocating for free and fair elections as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) prepares to elect its representatives for FIFA Council Members.
In a statement made available to Deeonemedianews, Ebi expressed his opinion and wish, saying, "Out of six FIFA Council positions, one reserved for female candidates, 10 contestants have made themselves available for elections in Cairo."
Notable figures such as Hany Abou Rida (Egypt), Fouzi Lekjaa (Morocco), Augustin Senghor (Senegal), Andrew Kamanga (Zambia), Suleiman Waberi (Djibouti), and Idris Diallo (Cote d'Ivoire) will be on the ballot.
According to Ebi, "These elections should serve Africa and our football, and should never be used as an avenue to get huge perks of $300,000 paid to Council members per year." He reiterated, "The elections should be free and fair, devoid of selection processes where a few are chosen, and everyone is urged to vote for them."
Ebi raised concerns that "the last time CAF had proper and real elections was in 2016, where people contested for seats freely without interference."
As a passionate football lover and sports facilities construction expert, Ebi wishes all candidates the best of luck and hopes for football development in Africa.
