The 2025 Women's African Volleyball Club championship kicked off in style, with First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, declaring the tournament open at the Mushood Abiola Sport Indoor Hall in Abuja.

The ceremony showcased the rich cultural heritage of Africa and Nigeria, with music, dance, and art on full display.

The event was attended by hundreds of fans, as well as top dignitaries, including CAVB President Bouchra Hajij and the Controller General of Nigeria Customs Service. The 16 participating clubs, representing 10 African countries, were also present, symbolizing the unity and growth of volleyball on the continent.

This marks the second time Nigeria is hosting the tournament, having previously done so in 1996. However, it's the first time the championship is being held in Abuja. As the patron of the event, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu's presence added glamour to the occasion, highlighting her support for women's sports and development in Nigeria.
