KGHTB Holds Inaugural Security Summit

 





Kogi State Hotels and Tourism Board (KGHTB), under the leadership of Hon. Philip Olusesan Orebiyi has hosted and held an inaugural security Summit for Hotels and Public Places in Kogi State.


The summit, which was held in Lokoja, had in attendance stakeholders of the tourism industry.


The General Manager of the board, Hon. Orebiyi, during his welcome address, emphasized complaince with board regulations, urging hotels to remain vigilant and proactive in preventing unforeseen circumstances.


The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Director of State Security (DSS), Nigeria Security, and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other security agencies were present, and they unanimously suggested that Hotels should in addition focus more on critical issues, such as preventing underage lodging and drug abuse.


The Ministry of Cutlure and Tourism, via its Permanent Secretary, advised Hotels to prioritize adherence to board regulations to maintain high standards and ensure a safe environment for guests.


Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS), Professional Managers, and Administrators delivered lectures to inform and sensize Hoteliers on how to manage and train their staff, and also inform their guests on security tips.


New Moon Limited, during their exhibition, emphasized the need for solar powered supply for lightening, security camera, and other election purposes. The team, while displaying their products, added that solar will save them lots of money and also add to their security strength.


The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of New Moon Limited, the Akeweje of Ogga, Chief Oluseyi Omotosho  applauded KGHTB, enjoins Hotelliers to support the board in bid for a secured tourist environment in Kogi State.


 Chief Jeremiah Oladokun, a Management Consultant , visually presented how every gap in the Hotels security systems can be met with provisions from a computerized management security system using software.


The representative of Hotelliers Association of Kogi State campaigned on the importance of training staff for security preparedness, actions, and reactions.


Goodwill messages were delivered by Hon. Shettima Abogun, Hon. J.B. Arojojoye and Hon. Matthew Ocheni.


There was award recognition for Hotels, Eataries and  Resort Award Presentation.
