The highly anticipated Benue State Scouting Project is set to conclude with a grand finale from Monday, May 26th to Friday, May 30th, 2025.

This grassroots football project aims to uncover and nurture raw football talents within the state, providing a platform for them to play professional football locally and internationally.

Launched in May 2024, the project has already made significant strides, with over 120 players selected from zonal screenings in the three senatorial zones of Benue State, including players from the Internally Displaced People (IDP) camp.

These players have been training under the guidance of Nigerian-born ex-England international player Ambassador John Fashanu at the Aper Aku transit camp since November 2024.

The organizers, Ontrade Solid Concept Limited, in partnership with Zalen Foundation and the Ministry of Humanitarian and Disaster Management, have expressed gratitude to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Alia, for endorsing the project.

They also acknowledged the support of the Deputy Governor, Barr Sam Ode, and the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Hon Ephraim Kunde.

The convener, Helen Aisha Ogenyi, praised the Majority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon Tiseer Sateer, for his unwavering support, which has been instrumental in the project's success. Additionally, the organizers recognized the contributions of the Director General of Radio Benue, Mr Teeseer Mnzulugha, and the Executive Secretary of Benue State Emergency Agency, Dr Sir James Iorpuu.

The grand finale promises to be an exciting event, with European football giant Milan Martinovic, a FIFA player agent, attending to select players for professional opportunities in Europe. Meanwhile, the project coordinator, Mr Franklyn Imonah, has arranged for top Nigerian clubs in the NPFL, NNL, and NYL, as well as football academies, to absorb players who will not be selected for European opportunities.

The organizers have assured the players that "none of them will be left behind" and are working tirelessly to secure their futures through football. The project has received endorsements from the Managing Director of Benue Investment and Property Company and the Benue State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).

The grand finale coincides with the 2nd anniversary of His Excellency's tenure, and he is expected to attend the event as a show of support for the youth.
