  Dayo  Awoniyi The Federal High Court in Abuja has reinstated Philip Shaibu as the Deputy Governor of Edo State, nullifying his impeachment by the Edo State House of Assembly. Justice James Omotosho's judgment deemed the impeachment illegal, unconstitutional, and in violation of provisions of both sections 188 and 35 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended. The court ordered Shaibu's reinstatement, payment of salaries and benefits from April 8, and a perpetual injunction against Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Edo Assembly from hindering Shaibu's duties. The Inspector General of Police was also directed to restore Shaibu's security details. The court dismissed the reasons for Shaibu's impeachment as a politically motivated vendetta, marking a significant victory for the reinstated Deputy Governor.

  No less than 22 players of Kwara United Football Club have been laid off ahead of the incoming season, according to the management of the club. The team, owned by former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Alhaji Sanni Lulu Abdulahi, defeated E Paul Football Club 4-2 in a penalty shootout after the game ended goalless in regular time.
